WATER QUALITY INDEX FOR THE SAN DIEGO RIVER
Water Quality Index Legend
90-100 Excellent
70-90 Good
50-70 Medium
25-50 Bad
0-25 Very bad
Conclusion: Based on the data, the water quality of the San Diego River is medium. I determined this by looking at the water quality index legend. The legend said that if the score is between 50 and 70, then the water quality is medium. I think the water quality is medium because the of the amount of turbidity, total phosphate, BOD and nitrate levels because the quality values are super low. The quality values for those categories are 40 or less. If the turbidity quality is at 25, then I think that high levels of turbidity are bad. Small amounts of phosphates are bad for water, according to the q-value of that category. The only thing keeping the water quality at medium is the high values of pH, dissolved oxygen and fecal coliform. The low coliform levels contribute to the high quality value. pH being neutral, not acidic or basic also accounts for the high quality.
