Endangered Wolf Killed in North Carolina
The red wolf lived through the south east of the United States despite the name, the wolves aren't all red, they just have a tint of it on their heads, ears, and legs but they were hunted in order to save livestock. Nearing to the 1960 they began to be near extinction. The remaining red wolves were brought into the captive breeding program in 1973. The remaining wolves living in the wild today are a part of an experimental, nonessential population. What that means is that they can be captured at anytime if they interfere with human activities. On August 1, 2012, a rule went into effect stating that coyotes could be hunted at night using spotlights. Since, red wolves can be mistaken for coyotes, by November 14, 14 wolves had been shot.
This article to me is really depressing because i think wolves are one of they coolest dogs out in the wild, but i also think that if i was a farmer i would just shoot the wolf on the spot, even if it was a coyote i still wouldn't shoot it on the spot, they is just plain out greedy. when I read that I thought how could they just do that. Are they really willing to risk being put in jail and having to pay $100,000?
